Carnatic Music

Like Hindustani music, Carnatic music is based on the use of ragas and talas. However, the ragas and talas used in Carnatic music are typically different from those used in Hindustani music. Carnatic music is typically performed by a solo vocalist or instrumentalist, accompanied by a group of musicians playing traditional Indian instruments such as the violin, mridangam, ghatam, and kanjira. It is often performed in concert halls and festivals, and is an important part of the cultural and spiritual traditions of the southern regions of the Indian subcontinent.

Carnatic music is characterized by its use of complex melodies and intricate rhythms, as well as the use of ornamental vocal techniques such as gamakas and karvais. It also incorporates elements of Hindu mythology and devotional poetry in its lyrics.
