The GMAT consists of four sections:
Analytical Writing: Measures the ability to analyze an argument and communicate ideas effectively in writing.

Quantitative Reasoning: Measures the ability to understand, interpret, and analyze quantitative information and to solve problems using mathematical concepts and techniques.
Verbal Reasoning: Measures the ability to read and comprehend written material, to analyze and evaluate arguments, and to synthesize information obtained from multiple sources.
The GMAT is a computer-adaptive test, which means that the difficulty level of the questions is determined by the test taker’s performance on previous questions. The test is scored on a scale of 200 to 800, with higher scores indicating a stronger ability in the areas tested.
