Hyderabad History

The history of Hyderabad is all about the Nizam’s. After leaving the ruins that make H.H. the Nizam’s dominions so interesting, the history of Hyderabad is not easy to follow . In the public libraries in British India I could discover nothing about Hyderabad further than the condensed summaries contained in such books as the imperial gazetteer of India. And only in the Hyderabad state library was I able to find particulars concerning the nizams and their ministers. Moreover some of the most important books on these subjects are becoming rare, even in Hyderabad [Deccan] under sir salarjung’ by mouvlicheraghali and the biography of sir salarjung I, which was written shortly after his death by nawabimud-ul-mulkbahadur. Hyderabad was founded by the Qutbshahi sultans of Golconda ,under whom kingdom of Golconda attained a position of importance second to that Mughal empire to north. Hyderabad was known for its beauty and affluence  , but that glory lasted only as long as thequtbshahi dynasty .

The Mughals conquered Hyderabad in 1685.the Mughal occupation and accompanied by plunder and destruction and was followed by the intervention of European powers in indianaffairs.Under the nizams the hindu and muslims populations coexisted ,although there were episodes of intercommunal fighting. After indian independence in 1947, violence by the razakars-a muslim militia- against hindu communities drew the attention of the government. The September 1948 the indian army intervented ,invading Hyderabad and easily routing the nizams forces. Although loss of life during the military operation was minor, it was followed by an outburst of looting and revenge killings of muslims by hindu civilians and  indiansoildiers. In 1950 the princely state became the state of Hyderabad in the indianunion. In 2014 , the state of Telangana was carved out from Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad became its new capital. The city of Hyderabad was founded by the qutbshahi sultan mohammedquliqutb shah in 1591 CE. It was built around the Charminar , which formed the center piece of the city.Hyderabad became an important trading center for diamonds and pearls, and a center for culture…….. The Indian army annexed Hyderabad in 1948. After the death of Aurangazeb in 1907, the Mughal of empire weakened the Governer of Hyderabad, asafjah I  [titled nizam-ul-mulk by the Mughal emperor], declared independence in 1724. His line ruled Hyderabad until 1948, and were called nizams.
