Hosapete, also known as Hospet, is a city in the state of Karnataka, India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Bellary district and is known for its cultural and historical significance. It was an important center of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th and 15th centuries and later became a part of the Mughal Empire. The city is known for its many historical landmarks and monuments, including the Hampi World Heritage Site and the Tungabhadra Dam.
