In a landmark development for the Telugu community, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and the American Telugu Association (ATA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer internship opportunities to students of the Telugu diaspora in the United States. This collaboration, finalized on September 25, 2025, in Washington, D.C., aims to provide global exposure and hands-on experience in research and innovation at IITH’s world-class campus in Hyderabad.
Strengthening U.S.-India Educational Ties
The MoU, signed by Prof. B. S. Murty, Director of IITH, and Mr. Jayanth Challa, President of ATA, establishes a framework for internships ranging from a few weeks to one year, with an initial validity period of three years and the potential for extension. This initiative is poised to enhance people-to-people connections between the U.S. and India, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration in the fields of technology and education.
Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators
Under the terms of the agreement, IITH will provide the necessary institutional, logistical, and infrastructural support to facilitate these internships. ATA will assist in identifying eligible students from the U.S., ensuring a seamless process for participation. The collaboration aims to empower the next generation of innovators by offering them exposure to cutting-edge research and technological advancements at one of India’s premier institutes.
A Step Towards Global Talent Development
This partnership marks a significant step in nurturing global talent and fostering meaningful research exposure. It aligns with IITH’s ongoing efforts to create pathways for students to gain valuable experience and insight into the fast-evolving world of technology and research. The collaboration also sets a precedent for future initiatives that bridge educational institutions across borders, enriching both Indian and American educational landscapes.
