The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is the initial stage of the IIT Exam.

It is a computer-based test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam primarily focuses on evaluating candidates’ knowledge in three core subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Mode of Examination

The JEE Main exam is conducted in two modes: Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Pen-and-Paper Test (PPT). However, it is essential to note that the CBT mode is more prevalent.

Question Types

The exam includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer-type questions. In MCQs, candidates have to select the correct answer from the given options. For numerical answer-type questions, candidates need to compute the precise numerical value without any options.

The exam is held twice a year, in January and June.

The minimum qualifying marks for JEE Mains are 75% for General Category, 65% for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 50% for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
