JEE Main
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is the initial stage of the IIT Exam.
It is a computer-based test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam primarily focuses on evaluating candidates’ knowledge in three core subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Mode of Examination
The JEE Main exam is conducted in two modes: Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Pen-and-Paper Test (PPT). However, it is essential to note that the CBT mode is more prevalent.

The exam includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer-type questions. In MCQs, candidates have to select the correct answer from the given options. For numerical answer-type questions, candidates need to compute the precise numerical value without any options.
The exam is held twice a year, in January and June.
The minimum qualifying marks for JEE Mains are 75% for General Category, 65% for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 50% for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
Facts
The exam is a computer-based test (CBT). The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for admission to B.E./B. Tech courses. Paper 2 is for admission to B.Arch. and B. Planning courses.
The JEE Mains score is used for admission to various engineering colleges in India, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).
