I recently visited Chandragiri Fort during a trip to Tirupati, and it was a breath of fresh air compared to the crowded temple queues. The Raja Mahal is incredibly well-preserved; standing in the same halls where the Vijayanagara kings once sat felt like stepping back in time. The architecture is a fascinating mix of styles, and the museum inside the palace is surprisingly detailed, with some beautiful bronze idols. I stayed for the evening Sound and Light Show, and though it was simple, seeing the palace illuminated against the dark sky was magical. The gardens are very peaceful and perfect for a slow walk. It is a must-visit for anyone who wants to understand the deeper history of South India beyond the religious sites. My only advice is to bring water and wear good shoes!
